After a dry spell, three film and television productions underway in Hawaii

Editor's Take:

Hawaii is experiencing a resurgence in film and television production, with three exciting projects currently underway after a period of stagnation. The state's appeal to the industry is heightened by its unique landscapes and vibrant culture, but a significant factor in attracting these productions is Hawaii's tax incentives, which exempt the film industry from certain taxation. This strategic move not only fosters local creativity but also boosts the economy, making Hawaii a prime destination for filmmakers seeking stunning backdrops and authentic experiences.

Blessing held for Kapa‘a Refuse Transfer Station Friday - Opening in phases starting March 12

Editor's Take:

A blessing ceremony for the Kapa‘a Refuse Transfer Station is set for Friday, marking the start of a phased opening beginning March 12. This development is exciting, especially as the current green waste area will transition to a new location, similar to the setup in Lihue. Notably, trailers must adhere to size restrictions, which may challenge some users accustomed to larger loads. Observing the flow of green waste unloading will be interesting, as the demand often leads to long lines.

Editor's Take:

In my recent essay, I delve into the pervasive corruption within the Maui County Planning Department, where I worked for three years. Despite my efforts to alert the media, I found them unwilling to cover these pressing issues, leading me to take matters into my own hands.
