Summer Nights & Spirited Steps: Celebrating Obon Traditions

Lantern light spills across the grass as taiko drums echo into the warm night. That is the heart of Obon, a tradition we were thrilled to feature in our SUMMER Digital issue. There is something magnetic about watching dancers circle the yagura, their movements both grounded and joyful, while the scent of sizzling festival food drifts through the crowd. We love how Obon weaves community, memory, and celebration into one vibrant evening. It feels authentic, alive, and deeply connected to the land and its people. For more local flavor that celebrates this same sense of place, our piece on "A Taste of Home: Local Flavors Shine at Asato's" pairs perfectly with this story.
