Honoring Hawaiian Heritage: A Month of Discovery and Celebration

September in Hawaiʻi just got its official due. With the signing of Act 167 in 2025, the islands now formally honor Hawaiian History Month, a time to celebrate Queen Liliʻuokalani and the deep contributions of the Native Hawaiian community. But this recognition isn't new; it's been woven into local life for years, thanks to the dedication of groups like the Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī Coalition, established back in 2007. That longevity speaks to something real, a commitment to understanding the rich, complex stories that shape these shores. It's an invitation to look closer, to learn and to celebrate alongside the community.
