Dodging AC Scams: Why Price Transparency Matters on the Island

A price quote that drops by thousands with zero pushback? That's not a deal, that's a red flag wearing a lei. When a local AC company slashes its number that fast after you flinch, they're not being generous; they're testing how much they can get away with. And a flat rate for any home size? That ignores the very real math of ductwork and square footage. It feels less like island hospitality and more like a scripted sales move. We get why you're feeling weird. Trust that instinct. If you're rebuilding or upgrading after recent weather events, like the resilience we saw in the "Kauai Rebuilds" coverage, you need honest, itemized pricing, not a vibe check. Ask for the breakdown. If they balk? Mahalo, next.
