9h Cairo Layover – Worth Visiting the Pyramids?

Hey everyone,

I’ll be flying EgyptAir this month and have a 9-hour layover in Cairo. I’m thinking of taking advantage of the free transit visa to step out and explore a bit. My main goal is to see the pyramids.

My flight lands at 15:00 in Cairo and my connecting flight departs at 00:00, so I’ll have a window of time. Has anyone done this before? Do you think it’s realistic to leave the airport, head out to Giza, see the pyramids, and make it back in time without stressing too much about the connection?

Would love to hear your experiences, tips, or anything I should be aware of (traffic, entry tickets, local tours, etc.).

Also I heard that there are local tours that pick and leave you at the airport

Thanks in advance!
