Amalfi Coast: where to stay and travel logistics
Hi! My boyfriend and I are traveling to the Amalfi Coast in early June. We’ll be there for 8 days, and we’re thinking of staying in one town and visiting the others on day trips! I had a few questions for people who’ve been:
What city do you recommend as the best base? We’re looking for somewhere that’s pretty and relaxing, not too expensive (options that are <$400/night), and relatively accessible, since we’d want to do day trips from there most days.
I was looking at Ravello since it seems beautiful and a little quieter, but not sure how accessible it is since it’s farther in the mountains. Also considering Amalfi (seems bigger with more transportation options) or Praiano (smaller but seems quaint and quiet). We considered Positano but everything seemed out of budget unfortunately 😅 We definitely want to see Pompeii, Capri, Positano, and do the Path of the Gods / Path of the Lemons hikes, so we also want somewhere where those are easily accessible
Did you stay in hotels or bnbs/Airbnbs, and which do you recommend?
What is the best way to get around? Ferries seem like the move but I also heard they can be expensive and crowded. Same with buses. Some influencer on Instagram posted about getting around on a scooter/Vespa but not sure if that’s realistic lol
Is Naples worth a stop? Since we’re there for 8 days we were thinking of checking it out and staying there for a day or two
Thank you!!!
