SmugMug users — what keeps you on the platform?

I've been researching gallery platforms for a while and I keep running into SmugMug.

But when I actually tested it recently, I was surprised — the upload experience felt dated (no background upload, had to sit and wait), some templates look like they haven't been touched in years, and the pricing has gone up a lot from what I read.

Yet clearly people still use and love it. So I'm genuinely curious:

• What originally drew you to SmugMug?
• What keeps you there now?
• Have you considered switching? If so, what stopped you?
• If you left SmugMug — why, and where did you go?

Just trying to understand what photographers actually value in a gallery tool vs. what looks good on a feature list.
